Company Information:

Proprietor:
Boland Bikes was founded by the present owner and Managing Director, Robbie Perold on 1 April 1985, after he left his position as Workshop Manager at a prominent Honda dealership, even selling his car to raise capital.

Robbie, a qualified motorcycle technician, was in the service of two motorcycle establishments as mechanic and workshop manager for about 8 years before starting out on his own. He was voted "Mechanic of the Year" by the then Honda importer, MIDMACOR, in 1983.

Workshop Manager:
The Workshop Manager, Johan Greeff, trained as Robbie's protégé, and is also a qualified motorcycle technician. He has been with Boland Bikes from the start, oversees all workshop operations.

Under Johan's guidance, a complement of four qualified mechanics, two apprentices and three support staff man the modern workshop facility.

The Workshop undertakes all mechanical and electrical repairs, from engine rebuilds and tyre fitment through to modifications and accident repairs. This motorcycle workshop is accredited by MERSETA (The industry training authority) as a training facility.

Parts & Accessories Manager:
The parts department at Boland Bikes is managed by Elna Lambrechts and assisted by Jacques Mostert who is able to cater to your specific motorcycle needs and can help you with suitable accessories for your bike or quad and cater to your clothing & protective gear needs at the very best prices. Their department is also geared to dispatch all manner of parts, tires, accessories, clothing and the like, by mail order or courier to any part of the republic.

Administrative Staff:
The administrative division is run by Johan Beck and Hannepie Smit, who do an excellent job of paying our accounts on time, and making sure that the debtors book ticks over smoothly. Hannepie doubles as our F&I person, and will acquire the best insurance and finance deals to suit each customer's individual needs.

Boland Bikes is a founder member of the recently launched Independent Motorcycle Importers Association ( IMIA )

Boland Bikes is a fully paid up member of the RMI (Retail Motor Industry organisation) and MDA (Motorcycle Dealer's Association of South Africa) and subscribe to their code of ethics.

Track / Riding School:
In the interest of motorcycle safety, we host monthly riding schools at the Killarney Motor Racing Facility, north of Cape Town. These events take place in conjunction with the Western Province Motor Club. These riding schools have proved to be very popular, and substantial feedback shows that these schools have improved the standard of motorcycle control, awareness and overall road safety among the hundred of participants who have attended the schools over the last few years.

Company History:
During the 23 years of operation, we have progressed from being a small rural Suzuki and Honda dealer (mainly serving the agricultural sector in the Boland region) to being one of the largest dealers in South Africa, with the largest workshop in the Western Cape, offering a full range of services to our ever expanding customer base. However, we have not forgotten our roots, and are proud to still serve the vibrant deciduous fruit and wine industries in the Western Cape and Breede River Valley. We also serve the wider agricultural sector, as far afield as Springbok and Upington in the Northern Cape, to Caledon, Swellendam and Riversdale in the Western Cape. We have even had the fortune to be able to supply export customers in Namibia and Lesotho!

We achieved this growth due to the fact that we have been importing our own products for the South African market since 1989. Over the years we have built up a formidable collage of reputable suppliers from all over the world. We deal with companies in Europe, North America, and the Far East. Due to the high volumes we sell, we are able to negotiate the very best pricing on the latest current models, and in many cases we sell the new bikes before the official distributors even receive their stock!

We realize that the need for basic, cheap and reliable transport in our country is growing, and to this end we have entered into an exclusive deal with a Chinese scooter manufacturer of high standing, to build high quality scooters, suitable for South African conditions.
